Why Digital Detection Technology Matters

April 15, 2021 | Categories: Horizontal Directional Drilling

When your projects require horizontal boring through rough soil and in areas where obstacles are a possibility, you need an accurate and precise path. Digital detection technology makes it easier to avoid sensitive obstacles or bore through them as appropriate. At Power Mole Trenchless, we’re proud to offer this technology on our PD-4 and PD-6 directional thrust boring tools

Live Video Feed

The operator of directional thrust boring equipment gets a live video feed with digital detection technology. This real-time information allows the operator to see when a change in grade or soil quality is coming. They can adjust the speed, direction, or thrust accordingly.

Real-Time Information

To see the current depth of the thrust machine, the operator just needs to tap a button. The data view provides pitch information in degrees and percentages. The left and right steering controls make it easy to adjust rotation and pitch in increments of one degree.

Track the Location

Digital detection technology shows a target-in-the-box icon of where the boring head is located. A clock face indicates its orientation. The operator can make minor adjustments if the boring head gets off the targeted path or if an obstacle presents itself.

Digital detection technology makes a big difference in accuracy, precision, and speed, particularly for directional thrust boring projects. It’s easy to use, and it’s a wise investment in your business. For more than 20 years, our family-owned and -operated business has provided excellent customer service for trenchless repair providers.
